
Pardis Pishdad-Bozorgi was recently awarded the national, prestigious 'Educator of the Year Award' by the National Construction Management Association of America.
She earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Design and Planning and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech's VCEMP, Vecellio Construction Engineering and Management Program in 2012. She also earned a Master of Design Studies in Project Managment and Real Estate from Harvard University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Tehran.
The spring semester is wrapping up, graduation is quickly approaching and seniors completed their Spring 2018 Design / Build Senior Capstone Project. The Spring 2018 capstone project scope of work included a full services Design Build proposal for the redevelopment of the infield at Richmond International Raceway. This includes the demolition of infield existing facilities, new garages, garage support areas and operational spaces, club or hospitality place, new media center, new fan zone, new pedestrian tunnel and other additional features.

A new housing study led by the Virginia Center for Housing Research at Virginia Tech has found a shortage of affordable housing throughout all regions of the state - and that Virginia needs to produce significant levels of new affordable housing to accommondate anticipated workforce growth.

The Fall 2017 Design / Build Senior Capstone Project took place Thursday, December 14, 2017 in Bishop-Favrao Hall. The Fall 2017 capstone project scope included a full services Design Build proposal for a residential rehabilitation center to include living quarters, kitchen and dining facilities, treatment rooms, and other medical provisions, as well as offices and work stations. The owner sought a minimum Certification of LEED Silver and proposer was asked to consider additional sustainability options in choice of materials, products, and systems.
Allie Jo Vogrig, a senior in the Myers-Lawson School of Construction, speaks with Virginia Tech alumnus David Coleman of Donley’s Inc. at the fall career fair. Vogrig begins a position as a project engineer at Donley's after she graduates. “I signed a full-time job offer on my first day of senior year," she said. "More people should know about this amazing school."
It may be the construction industry’s worst-kept secret: There aren’t enough Virginia Tech Myers-Lawson School of Construction graduates to satisfy hiring demand.
