The first floor of Bishop-Favrao Hall houses laboratories and a shop area that features state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The space houses a Virtual Facilities Research Lab, which provides a unique space that allows researchers to explore the many facets of facility lifecycle operations. The Building Enclosure & Systems Technologies Lab (BEST-Lab) engages graduate and undergraduate students in evaluation and assessment of various building performance metrics, dealing with systems and energy efficiency assessments and environmental building systems controls. The BUILD Lab finally, serves the Virginia Tech community by providing access to physical assets such as tools, materials, and equipment; as well as the not-so-physical in the form of an experimental environment whose purpose is to foster and support innovation of all kinds.
