The Fall 2017 Design / Build Senior Capstone Project took place Thursday, December 14, 2017 in Bishop-Favrao Hall. The Fall 2017 capstone project scope included a full services Design Build proposal for a residential rehabilitation center to include living quarters, kitchen and dining facilities, treatment rooms, and other medical provisions, as well as offices and work stations. The owner sought a minimum Certification of LEED Silver and proposer was asked to consider additional sustainability options in choice of materials, products, and systems. As a final requirement, students prepared an introductory poster session to present final design and construction solutions to industry board members, BC / MLSoC faculty, and guests.
Bidding teams were evaluated by members of the Myers-Lawson School of Construction's Industry Board and Alumni Committee. Faculty, staff, and other students attended the session. Evaluators were asked to rate how close to industry standard each team performed on the technical content of their proposal and the delivery of their presentation. The Red Team took first place and included Jamie Dean, Nick Heller, Colin Miller, and Jimmy Purcell. The Maroon Team took second place and included Mark Chang, Jamie Hall, Casey McGreevy, Tommy Park, Grace Seamon, and Mike Walker. The Blue Team took third place and included Evan Cowden, Laura Gurrister, Alex Harvey, Stephany Mego, Andrew Pilliero, Jacob Stotlar, and Savannah Wright.
All presenting teams performed to the highest quality and standards. Many thanks to the Alumni Committee in general, and Aaron Myers in particular, for facilitating industry's participation, and for hosting the reception. This industry engagement is a hallmark of the School that is never taken for granted.
